Happy In Paraguay
I can’t believe it’s taken this long for somebody to come up with this idea. Impressively stupid, random, and hilarious.
Wet Ink
Very cool commercial for Central Center TV (CCTV). Totally loving the ink-in-water effects. Vimeo Link
Groundhog Days
If you enjoy the movie Groundhog Day, you should give this fascinating article a read. It is one man’s attempt to quantify the amount of time Bill Murray’s character was actually stuck reliving the same day. Even more fascinating is the discussion that follows in the comment section. Typically I avoid forum based conversation, but this is truly enthralling. The article puts the number at about 8.5 years, but I’d be willing to bet it was well over 10.
Raaaaaaaandy!
Your have to watch this 2 part mockumentary about a comedian named Raaaaaaaandy. It’s actually Aziz Ansari’s character in the new movie, Funny People. He plays a terrible up-and-coming comedian, and it is the funniest thing in the world.
Sy’s Fynest
While I’m not crazy about SyFy’s new identity (I’m sure it will grow on me, new brands usually do), I think they had a good reason to change. Regardless, I hope we can all agree that they’ve gone in the right direction with their new bumps. I’m totally in love with these things. Motion graphics at its finest!
Carousel
Created as a promotion for the world’s first cinema-proportion television (21:9), Carousel is a short film created by Philips with director Adam Berg. This looping picture in motion is a stunning display of special effects at its finest. If you enjoy it as much as I did, you’ll want to check out the making of.
99 Seinfeld References
Seinfeld was the ultimate show for water cooler conversations. With a countless number of inside jokes, nicknames, characters, and story lines, it didn’t take long for the show to develop it’s very own social language. Now, thanks to Kiersten Essenpreis, we have a beautiful painting depicting a massive, heaping pile of these references (99 to be exact). And she even included a reference key! An excellent tribute to one of the greatest shows of all time.
I’m an Oil Man
I love the movie There Will Be Blood, and Daniel Plainview is one of my favorite movie characters of all time. Lucky for me, I stumbled upon this awesome illustration done by Anthony Ventura. Click below to see the full image.
Louis C.K. on Conan
Before this clip, I had never actually seen any of Louis CK’s material. But after listening to him rant about our spoiled generation on Conan for a few minutes, I have to give him my full endorsement. This is hilarious! (Note: There is a good chance this clip will get pulled by NBC, but for now I’ll keep my fingers crossed) YouTube Link
They Came from Earth
Awesome ads for the SciFi Channel. My only complaint is that there are only three.
Shadow Play
Check out this beautiful end title sequence of the film Mentiras Piadosas, directed by Diego Sabanés. Yet another inspiring example of why I wish I designed 3D and motion graphics. I’m sick of this lousy, motionless, two-dimensional crap (half serious).
The Jeopardy Archive
I’m not the smartest guy in the world (really), but I sure love trivia. And I’ve recently stumbled upon the J! Archive. This is a fan-created archive of every Jeopardy game, player, catagory, clue, answer, and just about everything else a Jeopardy fan could want. It dates all the way back to the very first unaired pilot with Alex Trebek in 1983. They even have MP3s, photos and videos for some of the video daily doubles!
I’ve Made a Huge Mistake
If you’re an Arrested Developement fan, this compilation needs little explaination. If you’re not familiar with the greatest show ever created, you need to be. I never realised how many times they actually said this.
Futuramarama
A fantastic collage of the Futurama cast. Done in a similar fashion to the famous Simpsons poster. You’d be surprised how much time you can kill just staring at these and picking out all the different characters.
